Gardening

Hi parents,

Just letting you know that the Year 6's will be planting some seedlings in the school vegetable garden tomorrow. This will take place after lunch and won't interrupt any of the usual Friday learning.

Could you please remind your child to bring an old t-shirt and any gardening gloves (if they didn't want to get their hands dirty) in their school bag.

More than happy for any of you to join in if you had the afternoon free.

Cheers,

Mr. Jones

Hi Parents,

I will be placing the roster for parent interviews on the window in the Year 5/6 wet area tomorrow morning. Interviews will take place in week 11 and there are multiple times to choose from (morning and afternoon). If you can't make it in to secure your spot due to work commitments, just flick me an email and I'll try my best to accommodate your preferred time/s.

Cheers,

Mr Jones

Hi Parents and students, What a great weekend to be down south! So special to be able to witness such a unique swell direction and see the whole coastline light up. Can’t wait for the next cyclone swell in 9 years!
Affirmation of the Week:

Camp: I am still on the hunt for some dad volunteers for the Year 6 camp. Let me know if you are interested.
Chrism Mass: Please make sure your child has brought their permission slip into me tomorrow morning. Some children have suggested that they have misplaced their note. I have said to them to have Mum or Dad write a note that they give them permission to travel by bus, to and from St Patrick’s Cathedral in Bunbury. Please refer to the ‘Chrism Mass Blog’ for any other info.
Holy Week: The Year 5’s and 6’s will be presenting their part of Holy Week celebrations on Wednesday morning at 9:00am in the hall. We will be looking at the events that occurred on Good Friday. This means we will be looking at all the Stations of the Cross except the Resurrection. Y…

Dear Parents,
RE: Chrism Mass – Tuesday 27th March
We will be travelling to Bunbury on Tuesday 27th March to participate in the Chrism Mass that is held at the Bunbury Cathedral. Mass will begin at 11am and will conclude at approximately 12.15pm. A short tour of the Cathedral will follow.
The purpose of this Mass is to consecrate the Oil of Chrism that is used during the Sacrament of Confirmation and bless the Oil of the Sick used for the Anointing of the Sick.
The sign of Confirmation is the Oil of Chrism, the most sacred of the oils. During the Confirmation ceremony, a person is anointed on the forehead with Chrism. As the oil is absorbed by the body, it is a sign of how the confirmed person is filled with the Holy Spirit. Chrism is olive oil mixed with a perfume s…

Hi Parents and students,
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Affirmation of the Week:

Literacy:
Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.
CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers) The comprehension strategy we will be focusing on this week is inferring. Inferring is when readers read between the lines and use the author’s clues to make meaning of a text.
Voices (Traits of good writers) We are currently writing or typing our final copies of our narratives. Some students will need to finish this off at home during the week for their home learning. Tomorrow we will begin exploring the common language features of poetry.
Numeracy
Under this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week. This week, we are reviewing multiplication mental strategies. We will look at doubling and halving, multiples of ten and the split strategy.

Hi Parents and students,
I trust all the Docker’s supporters out there enjoyed that rare winning feeling over the weekend. Well done!
Affirmation of the Week:

Literacy: Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.
CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers)
The comprehension strategy we will be focusing on this week is questioning. Questioning is when readers ask questions before, during and after reading to clarify meaning, make predictions and identify what is important.
Voices (Traits of good writers)
We will be revising and editing our narratives this week before typing our final copies on Microsoft Word.
All students have received a rubric, which is aligned to the ‘VOICES’ framework and this will act as a checklist to ensure we are including all the elements of a great narrative. A copy of this rubric can be found via our Literacy OneNote folder.

Peron Reserve

Just a quick reminder that your child will be travelling to Peron Reserve tomorrow afternoon. They will be learning about the local fauna and flora and assisting in the upkeep of the viewing platform.

Please make sure your child has an old shirt with them (in their bag) that they can wear for the afternoon. Old shorts are optional.

For those of you that haven't returned the permission slip, I will require these tomorrow please.

Thank you
