Operation Shoebox Appeal - Digital Copy

Good morning, Please see below a digital copy of the note that will be sent home with your child today. Thank you for your support, Caitlin  23 rd August 2016 Dear Parents, It is the time of year when we ask for the  support of the OLC community to help children in need by providing items that can be packaged in shoeboxes and sent to those in need. The shoeboxes our school helps to send may be the only gift that the child receives all year and they are very gratefully received! This year we will have a combined effort between the Year 4, 5 and 6 classrooms to donate items that can be used to package the boxes. In Year 6 all students will provide 2 items for the shoebox and $2.50 to pay for the postage of the boxes. Students will need to bring in a hygiene item and a special token item. Some examples are listed below. PERSONAL HYGIENE  Soap and face washer, toothbrush, hairbrush, comb, hair-clips, scrunchies, etc. (No toothpaste). SOM

Week 6 Update

Good afternoon parents, Welcome to another fantastic week of learning, the students are working very hard on their Year Books, poetry writing, maths concepts of volume, fractions and mass conversions as well as Shrek rehearsals. REMINDERS Shrek - Please make sure that you have checked with your child if they have been asked to bring in any additional costume or prop items. It would be excellent if all children are in the majority of their costume each Wednesday so that they can be comfortable for the performance. Please see Gen Greaves if you have any questions about what your child may need. Year Books - The first two pages are due for submission this week (Cover and Contents). Please make sure that your child is working on these for some part of each week to make sure that it is manageable for them. Shoebox Appeal - This is an annual event here at OLC and we ask all students and families to support this as much as possible. The gifts are very gratefully received by the

A Few Reminders...

Good afternoon parents, Just a few reminders for the coming weeks. Stationery Items - Can you please take some time over the weekend to ask your child if they need any stationery items. All children need blue and red pens to work with, lead pencils, a ruler, eraser, glue stick and scissors. These items are used daily. I personally provide items in the 'Borrowing Pot' for the children to use if they have forgotten or lost a required item. Some students are relying on these only and are not bringing or using their own items. Needless to say these items are very quickly used up or lost in the busyness of our day. I would appreciate your support in checking in with your child if they need anything. Shrek Costumes - As the performance dates draw closer, we will be rehearsing in the costumes every Wednesday so the children are comfortable. A large amount of the costuming has been provided but we do ask that some characters provide parts of their own costume or prop. If

All staff will be attending the Capes Conference at St Mary MacKillop. Confirmation Week!

Good afternoon, I just wanted to take a few moments to share with you some of the amazing experiences that we have had this past week in the lead up to Confirmation. We enjoyed a wonderful Retreat with Mrs Sue Barton in which the children were asked to liken themselves to wind and fire, complete a crossword on the Pentecost story, challenge their knowledge of Patron Saints and create a church using only cards! This was all aimed at helping us to understand that Jesus and the Church is present always and that we all have a part to play in creating our faith community. We talked about the people that inspire us and what it was about our particular Saint that drew us to them. We then had a beautiful morning tea! After morning tea, we shared some private moments reading our letters that our parents and loved ones had given to us. It was a wonderful experience to be a part of as the students were very touched. It was a very emotional expe
